社区 Health Worker Program

Welcome and thank you for your interest!

In August 2022, Ohio University 赞斯维尔 launched a 社区 Health Worker training program in collaboration with Ohio University's Integrated Services for Behavioral Health, Ohio Alliance for Population Health, and the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Service.

"社区 health workers build health knowledge and self-sufficiency through outreach, community education, informal counseling, social support and advocacy." (American Public Health Association, 2008).

This training will provide 100 hours of classroom content and 130 hours of hands-on clinical content to participants, at no cost to participants. It is a hybrid of online classes and 3 in-person sessions which will be held at the Ohio University 赞斯维尔 校园. Once successfully completed, participants will be eligible for certification through the Ohio Board of Nursing.

Ohio University 赞斯维尔 Cohort Schedule

  • Pending for 2023-24 school year!

社区 Health Care Workers are:

  • A voice for the community in the health care system
  • An invaluable asset to communities, and often share certain demographic features (e.g., socioeconomic status, experiences, language) with the community members they serve to promote health
  • 社区 liaisons that help facilitate clients in their decision to make lifestyle and behavioral changes

"With 社区 Health Workers, it is truly about the community, and it does not matter who you are and what little letters [are] behind your name....that's the piece I really like."
